La Grange itself is very nice and very safe, so is Brookfield, Western Springs, Countryside, Westchester, Hinsdale, Riverside, Oak Brook and basically all the burbs that surround there.

To be quite honest, La Grange is a rather posh area with huge old homes lining the streets that are in some cases 3 floors tall with full basements in them as well! The lot sizes are also on the large side as well, so La Grange in my opinion is a good choice if that is what you are looking for as far as areas go. The downtown is absolutley beautiful.

La Grange Park is a real sleeper. If I was going to buy, I'd be looking there. It is a safe community and much cheaper than La Grange. Nice homes can be had there for $350,000 maybe less. Also near a great forest preserve trail. La Grange is gorgeous but you need at least $500,000 for a good home there.

Hinsdale is very safe, so safe in fact people who live there are afraid to come to other towns. I knew someone that was afraid to come to Wilmette for dinner because she had to go through Evanston.
