Hi everyone,

My hubby got at an offer as a nurse at Cook County Hospital. I'm a stay at home mom and am looking to try to help coordinate aspects of the move. We've got one 2 yr old and would prefer to live in a nearby suburban area if he can safely and efficiently commute to Cook County by possibly car/L. The latter preferably. Any advice about a nice safe suburban neighborhood (likely looking for rental apartment 900 to 1100)

If suburbia isn't a feasible option what's the next best neighborhood that would facilitate that commute and be best for safety (most important criteria is safety plus cost)?

PS: If there's anyone who works for Cook County Hospital or nearby hospital and can give some personal input ab the commute, that would be fantastic or even working at the place.

Thanks in advance for your time and constructive input.

By public transit, the easiest and closest suburbs to Cook County are Oak Park, Forest Park, and Berwyn. All three are reachable by the CTA blue line (Berwyn also is close to CTA Pink line.) You should be able to find a decent 2 bedroom apartment in your price range in these suburbs.

Also by driving the west burbs are not a bad drive as they are near 290, even with the worse of traffic your commute would not exceed an hour provided you don't go too far west. Oak park, Forest Park and Berwyn are like 20-30 min drive from there.
