I usually drive when I'm going downtown, but I'm going to a Cubs game this weekend and don't want to deal with driving and finding parking nearby. I'll be driving to the University Park station and riding the Metra downtown. I thought I had heard somewhere that you don't have to pay to park there on the weekends? Anyone know anything about this.

Most Metra stations have free parking on weekends. Combined with the $7 weekend pass, a great deal. Just need to ride the CTA for the last few miles. Too bad you're not a Sox fan (have you considered converting?). You could ride Rock Island train right to the ballpark.

I've been to some Sox games, but I always have driven as I've never encountered traffic problems and it only takes me about 50 minutes. Only downside is paying over $20 for parking there.

Well yeah, driving by yourself is crazy expensive. But if there are 4 of you then driving makes the most economic sense, instead of 4 Metra + CTA fares, each way.

Yes most Metra stations have free parking on weekends. I would check just to make sure.
