My husband is working in Lake Forest. We have 3 children under the age of 9. We are looking in Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, Libertyville and Long Grove. I would love some insider perspective on the schools in LB and LF. I know it is a wealthy area, but what are the kids and parents like in this community? we are an average hard working family and want to raise kids in an environment where education and family values really matter. I would appreciate any insight that you might have! We are a little nervous about the size of the highschools in Long Grove and Libertyville.

Lately anti-tax forces have had some success in Lake Forest -- more of the very well off families in the area have a tradition of private schools that tend to make it easy to force things to a confrontation... Lake Forest High School sees first teachers strike - Chicago Tribune

I am less concerned about the size of Stevenson than the very wide area it serves -- lots more people in spread out Long Grove , Deer Park and similar sprawl-ish areas just have less ability to get to know parents of their children's classmates...

I like Libertyville, Highland Park & Deerfield as options.
