We're thinking of buying a house in Schaumburg, between Roselle and Barrington road off of Wise Road. The closest main intersection would be Wise and Braintree.

We drove around the neighborhood at night and during the day. It seems good, but we're from out of state and not familiar with the area. Some of the comments here say thinga between Roselle and Barrington are bad -that seems like a large area of Schaumburg to rule out. The houses in that area are in our price range whereas the Roselle-Plum Grove area is a lot more expensive.

Here's our situation: 1 kid (2 years old), 2 dogs, tele-commuting from home.

Can you give me your thoughts on that area of Schaumburg? What are the parks like Eagle park and Freedom park like? They seemed nice when I walked around but one midday walk isn't that representative, and we love to walk. Thanks for the help in advance!

Main problem I horrible traffic. If you are working from home that's not an issue.

Had a post about Hoffman vs Schaumburg and that got deleted. I'm thinking of buying a house in Hoffman around the Hoffman High School. It's right by Fabrini Park. What's the area like there? I noticed that Hoffman has a lot more low income students than Schaumburg High.

I live about 1 mile north of Wise and Braintree. This is a nice area, and I feel safe living here as a single woman; I've been in this part of Schaumburg since 1998. Schaumburg Township library is great. I don't have any kids, but District 54 (elementary and middle schools) and District 211 (high school) are well rated and living in these districts is supposed to be a bonus when selling a home. The Schaumburg park district has a lot of programs for kids and adults.

On the negative sign, property taxes are high, but that is typical of Illinois and the Chicago area in general.
