The Valley View section of Glen Ellyn seems an odd area to be looking at if you're coming from Elmhurst. Not that its bad - its not - its just a little rural compared to the rest of town.

It's not a bad commute. The train ride is 42 minutes if the train makes every stop. It can be as short as 36 minutes if you get the fastest express train that stops there. If you can walk to the train, then that makes the commute that much easier, IMO.

Check parking by the train station. As a recall the lots can be very far away and a long walk from the actual place boarding the train.

Specifically, one of the lots is a few blocks west of the station. Its west of the library.

Friends of ours lived in unincorporated Glen Ellyn off St. Charles, West of Main Street. They purchased because they liked the house. The neighborhood looked nicer than many unincorporated areas (less blight, newer houses on the block). The surrounding streets were new construction. It was a total nightmare for them.

Garage band that played several nights a week, people burning garbage, decking and landscape waste at all hours of the day. Several septic leaks due to aging systems that people didn’t want maintain or pay to replace. Dumping of yard waste in the Federally-Protected County Wetlands and other wooded areas. The neighbors felt they could do whatever they wanted and were total red necks. Most bought there to do what they wanted. The Sheriff, County and Health Department loosely enforce the ordinances that are openly violated. Low taxes were not worth it to them. They quickly moved to an incorporated area.

I cut the bands a break, especially when I think of how these and other Chicago area bands started , likely in a garage or a basement.

Chicago aka earlier as Chicago Transit Authority- C.T.A., Shadows of Knight, Cryan' Shames, The Buckinghams, Ides of March, New Colony Six, Styx, Survivor, REO Speedwagon, Cheap Trick, etc...
