Title says it all… Pros and cons of Lake Zurich? It seems like there‘s a lot of nice construction / development going on. And obviously good schools and everything you need in town. Even a Costco. Any thoughts?

Northwest suburbia. Dull, but cute in areas. I'm most familiar with Wynstone, which I oddly like. Well-regarded but lower profile public schools.

Wanted to note that Wynstone is technically in North Barrington, but half of it is zoned to Lake Zurich schools.

I live in LZ and love it here. Moved here 10 yrs ago and so glad we did. I don't think it is dull but I have kids that are very involved. Schools are excellent, close to many other suburbs. Can be in downtown Barrington in 10 min, downtown Arlington heights in 20 mins. Shopping is extensive. Deer Park shopping is literally 5 min from my front door.
Overall it is a win for us.

Nice! Looking forward to live there

Agreed. It's a nice leafy area, decent schools, etc. But a little bit annoyingly far from the highways & the Metra stations.

10 minutes away from 2 Metra stations is not what I consider far away. That's actually pretty decent.
You can either drive to Barrington or to the Prairie View station.

People on CityData think if you do not live at the Metra station that you are far from the Metra station.

I lived in LZ and took the metra for 7 years to the loop. The stations are a little further than I’d have liked. Closest is barrington but I’d have to drive because there wasn’t a good way to bicycle there (though I did a few times).

Overall LZ is textbook outer-suburb, a good place to raise a family but that is the only reason I’d want to live there.
