Anyone got any opinons on the schools served by Oakbrook (elementary and middle). I saw a posting by a student on great schools.net website saying the Herrick Middle school had rats and cockroaches together with not a challenging curriculum. My understganding Oabrook is served by its own district Butler 53, Downers grove( which Herrick Middle sch belongs to) , Elmhurst, and Hinsdale. If i want to live in Oakbrook, is there a sch district that should be avoided if possible. I must emphasise the posting about was posted by a student so I am not sure how valid the posting is.

Any thought or opinions would be appreciated.

You are correct that the middle school mentioned is in Downers Grove. Portions of Oak Brook are served by that district, as well as the D53. Others portions are served by Hinsdale and Elmhurst districts.

It would be wise to disregard the rantings of a "student". Herrick's scores are quite good, all of District 58's facilities are well maintained, and the curriculum includes a solid mix of academics and fine arts.

Do you really believe that a town with the median home prices / high household income of Oak Brook would tolerate anything other than a quality experience? All of the subdivisions have different character, and several subdivisions have sections in different school districts so it is a bit challenging to determine house-by-house which district a property is in, but rest assured none should be avoided.
