As am I. However, when the people in the place are clueless and screw up what little hair you have, it is frustrating.

If all you do is a simple buzz cut, invest in your own clipper set! I have two boys..20 and 14. they have been just getting buzz cuts for many years now. the clipper sets are around $20 bucks and come with a number of trim pieces. Find someone that you trust to do the trimming for you. you will really save the money this way. we even purchased a second clipper set so our oldest could take it to college with him. he just gets one of the roommates to do the clipping!

Default Ethnic Barber/Beauty Shops

Has anyone tried an ethnic shop that tends to cater to styles including the faux hawk or fade? They also tend to charge a more reasonable fee. The recommendations on this site are excellent, thus the reason for soliciting ideas here. Thank you.

There's a nice little old barber shop downtown Lisle that has been in the same spot for something like 50 years, they treat your right, and it has that good ol' barber shop feel. I just don't recall the name of it, I found it one day by accident.
