Oh I wanted to mention Schaumburg is a nice area, and the commute to both the city and Great Lakes would be about an hour (prob a little more). However, Schaumburg is pricey and overcrowded but you could prob find your price range there.

Palatine is not a bad area either. I lived there for a short time.

I grew up in Streamwood, so I'm really familiar with the entire area. Feel free to ask away!

Hi, I used to live in MP and drove up to North Chicago for work, which is close to Great Lakes. It was not a bad commute. I'd say 40 mins w/traffic. If you're still looking for a place, I have a cute 2 BR house with a fenced in yard (perfect for a dog) that I'm looking to find a reliable renter for. I would consider renting it to you for $1500 if you're interested.

Buy a parka. A BIG parka. And good, warm boots. Especially if you're from SoCal.
