I'm willing to pay higher taxes if the means better schools. Kids or no kids, once schools start to go down hill you can bet on the area going down hill also. A lot of young families are attracted to the burbs for better schooling, once the schools go to pot, you can watch the decline in property values go down further. Plus I don't want to short change kids... There are enough people out there with poor educations as it is.

I constantly hear people talk about greedy teachers, bla bla bla... Doctors provide arguably the most important service, and they are well compensated for it. High level executives and bankers get paid top dollar, what wonderful things do they do for society? Oh that's right, they cause financial disasters. Teachers control to larger extent the education level in children and ultimately the future of society, and I'm willing to bet that theyre compensation looks like a joke compared to the previous 2. In the short run you can save some money, in the long run you will create a country of dumbasses.
