Any consolidation you can offer me on this one? I'm a bit uncomfortable agreeing to allow "others" to view my social security number... a little ambiguous for my taste.

Cool! What do you consider a "not decent salary"? (I mean, what is indeed the starting pay?) How does the salary grow towards "decent" (at what rate and how much)? How difficult is it to get a job there? Would uthere be a particular "position" I should apply for? Sorry for the onslaught of questions, not sure how it all works there. Thanks!
A decent salary to me is when u make enough to pay rent and still have enough to cover your basic needs. When I was working for the Census Bureau making $17.50 an hour that to me was not bad given I'm only in my early 20s. It sucks it was only temporary.

Packaging Handling at UPS starts at $8.50 for the first 3 months. After that it increase to $9.50. I think after a year it continues to increase every 6 months or a year. Truck drivers make over $50k a year. Im a student also so working at ups shouldn't be that bad. Getting a job at Ups isn't hard around this season.

Ok great, thanks a lot! I will definitely look into this.

If anyone has any more suggestions, they are of course much appreciated!

Default You don't want to provide your social security number to an employer?

I'm not familiar with any legit jobs that don't require that info.

Good luck with your job search!

Thanks. It's not giving my SSN to the employer that makes me uncomfortable...

..."others" seems like it could mean just about anyone.
I'm just uncomfortable agreeing to a statement with that much ambiguity on a pretty important little piece of info. It seems like with such an agreement, they could legally give my ssn to anyone they so choose.
If they specified even "others in the company" or "for identification purposes", I would feel a lot more comfortable with it.

I realize there is probably a very low likelihood of there being any issue, but the fact that pretty much anyone- a part of the company or not- could view it legally is discomforting. Perhaps there is some sort of assumed legality to my protection that I do not know (I know little about law); and/or perhaps the risk of a ssn "on the loose" is much less than I have previously been led to believe?

An employer should only need your SSN after you agree to a job offer.
