The Swedish folks tend to make merry on occasion in front of the Linnaeus statue on the Midway.

I thought Summerfest tickets varied..like.. you don't pay 15 bucks to see all 700 bands but rather pay varied prices depending on who is playing? Summerfest is the only remaining large music festival I need to get to (in the US at least). Maybe next summer.

Nope. it's 15 however if there are so many promos that if you can get there before 3 or 4 sometimes 5, you can get in for free or for 5 bucks. The Marcus Theater acts charge for their show, this is usually the biggest names play there which is like Elton John, Prince and Britney Spears. Each free stage which I believe there are 15 of them now has a big headliner at 8pm and/or 10pm. Plus all the smaller stages with local acts and up and coming acts. There are a lot of different genre's on the smaller stages which I like.

I can't believe I've been living in Chicago and hadn't been to any fests before this year. My wife and I recently got back from Wicker Park fest and had an excellent time. There were (at least) two bars that were doing the "$5 for a PBR and shot" deal. Needless to say, I became highly innebriated due to extremely high quantities of low quality liquor. Definitely an entirely different vibe from something like Midsommarfest, but the food at Wicker Park fest definitely sucked.

Also, having never really ventured much into Wicker Park, I was pleasantly surpised at how awesome that stretch of Milwaukee Ave is. Also amusing is the critical mass of hipsters; I'm not sure why I drew a few looks as I walked into Debonaire Social Club.

Now I'm full out hooked on street fests. I'm really looking forward to Retro on Roscoe and North Side Summer Fest.
