Yeah, I guess I took the term "buppie" as a given. It seems like a widespread and commonplace slang neologism nowadays, and I've heard both black friends and white friends of mine use that word for several years. So, I was genuinely surprised that somebody with enough awareness to be reading and posting on a site like city-data would be unfamiliar with the term. But there's nothing wrong with not knowing things, and I didn't mean to give you a hard time. And lord knows there's plenty that I don't know, so feel free to pick on me the next time I don't know something that others do—I have it coming to me.

Empire Liquors in Wicker Park always has a pretty diverse, eclectic crowd.

Its a pretty small place and can be packed on the weekends, but the decor is great and in the back there is a pretty fun dance area. Just the other night I saw a cute little asian girl dancing with this real smooth dancing black dude, and some eastern european bro dancing to some R&B with some black girls.

Its a fun place to dance... good R&B and hip hop dance music.

Maybe it's just me, but I tend to see that the higher up one is on the socioeconomic ladder, the more racially integrated things tend to be. In other words, I think that most yuppies/buppies/auppies [[auppies = asian yuppies lol]] hang out in the same places.

When we get to lower economic classes (such as working class blue collar individuals) things tend to be more racially divided as well.

There may be certain places that are more popular with buppies as opposed to yuppies (maybe because it is black-owned or whatever) but overall, a general professional environment should be fine!

This seems like a very solid recommendation from what I've heard. I think Funky Buddha Lounge might be worth a shot for fans of the same scene as well.

I wish I could remember the name of this book -- the Chicago Main Library might know. The book was published THIS YEAR. It contains a history of all the old historic Chicago bars now gone like Billy Goat Tavern where Mike Royko and his pals hung out. The reason to buy the book is there is also listings of the bars (I beliebe they are historic) where you find poetry, book readers and writers today. Good Luck!
