I'm craving some Chocolate Malted Crunch and I can't find anything on google.

Some "candy stores" back home (stores specializing in filtered water and aisles and aisles of candy) carried Thrifty ice cream, but I don't know what's here.

I've never seen it in Chicago. If you're referring to the ice cream that used to be sold at Thrifty Drug Stores, you've just rocketed me back to an ancient and treasured childhood memory. When I was all of six or seven years old in the early 70s in California, you could get a single scoop of ice cream at Thrifty for a nickel!

Yep, that's the stuff.

As a child in Tucson, I'd get scoops of Chocolate Malted Crunch in an actual Thrifty Drug Store.

As an adult in Phoenix up to last August, I'd buy it by the gallon at these stores all over called "Water and Ice" that basically sold water and candy.

The only thing I found on google was that 'Rite Aid' stores were selling it. I got excited, then 3-seconds later found that this chain isn't in Chicago anymore.

I NEED IT.

Crazy coincidence: I lived in Tucson half of my childhood too. The only Thrifty store I remember was downtown, but maybe there were others. That one was there through the mid-80s at least.

Yeah, I was a child in the mid-80's. I think it was on Oracle Road there in Tucson, but I could be wrong since I didn't drive. Maybe 'Orange Grove' something rather. I don't know.

I searched amazon (thinking I'd pay mega shipping fees since it'd have to remain frozen) but nothing. They don't even have a website so how the hell do they think people are going to find their products? Another google search showed me some images of Thrifty Ice Cream in grocery store like packaging, it'd be nice to know where it was being sold!

Well, I hope you find it somewhere. But if you're forced to compromise, there's no shortage of good ice cream in these parts.

Yeah ^^^^

We have places like Margie's Candies that make their own ice-cream. We don't need chain store goods when there's hometown establishments.
