Has anyone bought a ventra card online? I start my job in early Dec and live out of state. Should I take a chance and order the card online or will it not come by then?

Well, I have a Chicago Card Plus and I signed up to convert to the Ventra card as soon as I got the email from them... that was back in June, I think. They said I would probably receive my Ventra card sometime in August, but it still hasn't arrived yet. (Given the trouble I've heard about with people trying to actually use the thing, I think I might be one of the lucky ones.

You could just buy one at the L station upon arrival. Put $40.00 dollars on it at the station kiosk. This will give you a week to register online and add other funds.

If you're ordering a new one you should get it in planty of time, although it's pretty simple to just pick one up at a station as well. The real problem is for people who are switching from a Chicago Card Plus to a Ventra card - they've screwed up that transition really badly.
