I was doing the accent tag on youtube and some people say I sound like I am from Chicago while others say I sound like I am from the south. My dad was born in Chicago so I talked similar to him. Just wondering opinions.

Your vowel pronunciations aren't quite as "open" as a typical Chicago accent, though they do sound more open/raised than your average Middle American. However the southern Great Lakes region is one of the most rhotic in the English-speaking world and that definitely shows up in your very hard/sharp "r" pronunciations following vowel sounds, as in "suberrrbs" and "outsiderrrs" and "I'm not really surrre".

I think there are two types of Chicago accents - south side and north side. Some words spoken with an "a" sound
like a Chicago accent while others you mentioned do not. Never the less, I think you sound fine.
And I had the same answers to the questions as you did.

You perhaps have a bit of an upper Midwest accent, but it does not really sound Chicago specific to me.

Ever see the SNL "Superfans" skit? That's a stereotyped version of the Chicago accent.

State Farm Insurance has resurrected two of the Superfans in its recent ad campaign...
