These are arguably the 3 best diagonals in chicago, so which is best:

Milwaukee (grand to Logan)
Clark (north to Irving park)
Lincoln (armpit age to montrose)

All the typical urban ideals should be taken into consideration

Did "autocorrect" bite you or do have something against Armitage Ave?

What about the other diagonals in Chicago?

Indeed. The real question why is "armpit age" a autocorrect option

These are the three best IMO.

Overall Lincoln is my favorite, just love the overall feel. Clark probably has the biggest contrast between northern section and southern, due to wrigley. Milwaukee probably has the most potential right now, also makes up a 3rd of my fav intersection in chicago (Milwaukee/Damien/north)

Lincoln is kind of downtrodden for much of its length. Seeing how much I dislike crowds of hipsters and yuppies these days, I vote for Lincoln Avenue.

"Downtrodden?" Is this a joke? Lincoln is the only one of the three that doesn't really go through any "downtrodden" areas at all. At the very worst it has a bunch of no-tell motels on its very northern end, but you don't get there until you're north of Foster and the OP's specified Armitage to Montrose.

West Lakeview is not downtrodden, but Lincoln Avenue there is full of empty storefronts and businesses that don't really make the strip lively or anything. Outside of Lincoln Square, Lincoln is not a destination street and appears borderline run-down.

Just curious, why cut off Lincoln Avenue at Montrose? IMO the coolest section of Lincoln -- perhaps the coolest single block in all the city -- is from Leland to Lawrence.
