Like via Chicago said, there aren't any predominately Italian communities left in Chicagoland. Your best bet in finding one is somewhere in New Jersey and NY.

Here are a couple of towns where Italian ancestry is signficant

Elmword Park,IL- 28.7%
Norridge, IL- 25.6%

drive north on Harlem Avenue, starting around Diversey. I don't think you'll find a neighborhood that is exclusively (or even majority) Italian, but there are still cultural pockets.

The Italians from most of the old west side enclaves are gone/assimilated, but the restaurants remain on Grand Avenue and Taylor Street--and a few in "Heart of Italy". Elmwood Park, River Grove, and Melrose Park still seem to have a lot of Italians--though probably not the majority in any of them.

West Town is starting to see a resurgance in it's Italian population. Especially in Ukrainian Village near Western and east on Grand.

The majority of the Italian population has migrated to the western suburbs, namely Elmwood Park, Berwyn, Melrose Park, and into DuPage County like Oak Brook.

Other strong Italian communities in the NW burbs are Palatine, Arlington Heights, and Rosemont.
