You forgot South Water St between Lake and Wacker.

A very long time ago, Chicago did use Avenue/Street differentiators, but that hasn't been the case in over a century I think.

Also, there is Grand Avenue, which is east-west through River North and the West Side, but before MLK Blvd was named as such, it was Grand Boulevard and one of the communities around it is still referred to as such.
I don't know exactly when they changed boulevards to avenues. The link below, which was my
neighborhood was a typical example of a boulevard at least until the 80's. It usually meant there
was a parkway in the center of the road.

I don't have the names memorized, but I never really get lost. I generally have a good instinct about the direction I am facing, and remember the facades of buildings and places really well. I can make my way around easily, but god help me if someone asks for directions...
