Lou's is without a doubt the best.

Gino's East was always my favorite, but if this thread has taught us anything it's that there's clearly no consensus on this issue!

I also like the pizza at the Sbarro's on the Ohio Turnpike, no lie.
IMHO Sbarro's pizza is pretty decent for a national chain. You could do a lot worse.

I think their pizza is just OK, nothing spectacular. The place is pretty much a tourist trap nowadays.

I don't think an opinion on the best pizza in town is well informed until you've tried tried Phil's at 35th and Aberdeen.

The flagships Uno and Due in River North are pretty good. The franchises are anything from OK to abysmal. Unfortunately Uno's hasn't been a good ambassador to the rest of the country for Chicago pizza.

Still, even the flagships aren't near #1 among the major Chicago pizza institutions in town, IMO anyway. I would put them one step above Giordano's.

That is what I though too... the other uno's are not even the same, I am not even sure if it is the same company.

it really depends if you're talking thin (and what kind of thin you like), pan, deep dish, etc. I love some places for deep dish but wouldn't go out of my way there for thin, and vice versa.

here's my favorite old-school joint for thin:

Di Vita's Restaurant - Avondale - Chicago, IL

you can tell they are good by the fact they do *not* have a web site.

for spinach deep-dish I swear by Bacino's. my wife got me a heart-shaped pizza there for Valentine's Day, and it was the best damned pizza I've had in years.

Also a big fan of Eduardo's for the deep-dish.

I will come clean in that I will eat just about any halfway decent pizza - even Pizza Hut & Little Caesar's have their purposes (ie - for kids!).

by the way, I grew up with Art of Pizza, we were going there immediately after it opened in the mid-80s. And although I've always loved them, and especially the slice selection, I would never, ever rank their deep-dish even close to the top.

I went there last week and got a few slices - tasty, but not extraordinary. And way too bready for my taste as far as the crust.
