Yes.

chicago apts/housing for rent "Wicker Park" - craigslist

Basically, go to Chicago.craigslist.org.

Click on apartments.

For the max, type in 1100 (and for min I put I 500).

For a keyword search, I typed in Wicker Park.

For type, I selected 1 bedroom.

Of course, not all ads have the neighborhood. You can also do other searches such as Bucktown or West Town, as well as street names.

I would verify that the people who placed those ad's are using the proper WP boundaries! Looks a bit fishy (but I didn't investigate)

I rent in WP for $950/month, one-bedroom. The rent increases each year. It looks like a unit is available in my building now for $1000/month.

I use the Craigslist map feature often and places are occasionally available at that price. They go very quickly, though -- when you check out a place, you often have to be ready to sign a lease right away.

It is possible, but they go fast. Believe it or not, $1,100 a month for a 1 bedroom is also possible in Lakeview.

Default A pretty good analogy when but in that context...

Unlike some places that have rent control and similar ways to make some apartments artificially affordable, the nicer apartments in the nicer neighborhoods of Chicago generally are pretty narrowly priced. If a place in a nice part of Chicago is cheap it almost means the place is exceedingly unpleasant in a variety of ways -- most often outdated / small but also issues with noise / smells ...

I wouldn't call Lakeview "nice," but yes, that was what I was generally getting at. Everything you mentioned, plus loud drunk young bros and trixies.
