I do not live in Beverly, however, I do live near Oak Park and work in Beverly often. I also have friends that live in Beverly, with children (ages infant to teen), and have raised concerns over the lack of things for their children to do or lack of things that interest their children to do beyond the typical park activities (ie., sports). Typically, my friends have difficulty in finding certain lessons for their children (ie., dance, music) and some of my friends do not feel safe having their children commute on CTA because, depending on the route, can pass through neighborhoods which are less than ideal for youth. I only mention this because you stated you have children and want to provide them with more space.

While my wife and I may be having children soon and are considering purchasing a home, we have also considered Beverly for the same reasons but feel we'd become resentful of the decision since we enjoy being able to walk to restaurants and have things to do with easy public transit access. With my little knowledge of Beverly, I do not feel investing in a mortgage there would be a good fit for us based on these reasons.

A car would definitely help in the area but you also have neighboring Oak Lawn and Evergreen Park for retail and restaurants. There is also a newer Home Run Inn on 109th and Western and a Buona Beef being built as well.
