I have to drive to Rosemont after working until 1 on Friday. I should hit Chicago area around 4:30 Chicago time. Is there a good way to avoid traffic to get up to Rosemont? I have to be there by 7.

Thanks!

If you will be leaving SE Michigan (say someplace right on I-94, like Ann Arbor...) you can count on a drive taking about 3 and half hours. The smart thing to do is NOT take the Skyway out of Indiana or get on the Dan Ryan but stick with the TriState Tollway, I-294. That time of day the majority of traffic will be headed south / east and you will have relatively easy travel.

like it was posted above me, avoid the kennedy at all cost. you will be in a parking lot on a friday during rush hour, or pretty much any other time on the kennedy.

if you're coming in via I94, stay on that and get on I80 west and take I294 up to ohare it was mentioned earlier.

This is a drive I make frequently since I now reside in Metro Detroit, but still have a lot of ties in the Chicago area. What Chet Everett & beaniemac said are correct. Take the 294 toll road which goes through the suburbs and totally bypasses the city. Do NOT go through the city & don't take the Skyway either.

For folks living in other Midwest states that come to Chicagoland at least once every 1-2 months, I'd highly recommend getting an I-Pass. It's compatible with the East Coast EZ-Pass system as well. You'll be able to breeze through Chicagoland's toll roads that way.
