Yes, and anybody who's well traveled and actually learns something about every place they travel would realize this. Chicago is not cheap, but the 7th most expensive place in the world it is not.

I know the folks at UBS, some of them quite well. They would never say that UBS doesn't make mistakes. Chicago isn't even the 7th most expensive city in the United States and I'm not sure it would be in the top 7 in Canada! It is known among international business people for being a cheap relocation. When I tell people from New York, California, London, Tokyo, Singapore, etc. - that I live in an under $700,000 house in Chicago they think it must be a one- or two-room flat. When I show them pictures they are just flabbergasted.

...you might understand that your type of home is not standardized to include in the study:

Quote:
To estimate the worldwide costs of housing, we considered the prices for three different types of apartments. For two of these types, we standardized requirements to Western preferences, with a furnished two-room apartment and an unfurnished three-room apartment. We only looked at newly built apartments which with a bathroom and a kitchen.

The UBS study is not very useful, that much we gather.

Not only, as already said, is it significant because it shows how important Chicago still relatively is, BUT it is an unbiased third party that MIGHT HELP OPEN MINDED PEOPLE understand some of the forces that are hurting the ability of "regular people" remain in Chicago.

So, Chicago is

1. expensive
2. has lots of crime
3. is, to put it friendly, not very nice except downtown.

That doesn't look very good overall, does it? I noticed myself too Chicago is way more expensive than European cities with the exception of London and some Swiss cities in most things. The article seems to make sense to me.

So the same as Amsterdam then.

You're clearly just trolling anyway though.
