I know this is a stupid question, but I'm just wondering. I suppose the Yellow/Purple are the least dangerous, but, you never know, as Evanston is one of the more dangerous suburbs of Chicago. I would know, as I live in Evanston all my life, and have seen my share of property crime but no shootings.

I might need to ride the Blue Line to O'Hare and take a plane to Toronto but the plane leaves at 9:30 PM and I have no car. I need to know how dangerous the O'Hare Blue Line is and if I need to maybe take Metra NCS to avoid the crime.

Thanks!!!!

I would not be surprised if the Red Line were technically the most dangerous because it has, by far, the most passengers. You need victims to have crimes. Also, Red Line always seems to have more sketchy characters than the other lines. It always has the most beggars, gangbanger types, and other urban scourges.

The Green Line and others go into more bad neighborhoods but are very lightly used. Also, the Red Line, despite passing though good areas, goes through many rough areas too, even on the North Side.

Brown Line, to me, seems the safest. Doesn't go through bad areas, really, trains are crowded enough you feel safe but not so crowded you worry about pick pockets or perverts.

Evanston probably is one of the more dangerous Chicago suburbs. I mean, at the least, it has above-average crime. Compared to Gary, no, but compared to Winnetka or Barrington or Hinsdale, yeah. Just because it has yuppie areas doesn't mean there are some areas with elevated crime. The Howard street area on the Chicago border absolutely sucks.

I just took the Blue Line to get to O'Hare to visit my family over Thanksgiving. I was on there at 3am (had a red eye 6am flight). It was fine. The thing about the Blue Line is that there are always people on there going to/from the airport, and it doesn't really go through any bad neighborhoods. If you're really worried, just sit in the very front train.
