People sort of count on those maps to plan out their trips, and out-of-towners in particular may not know how to adjust if they arrive at their destination station only to find it closed.
I have noticed that also.

I can relate to that.

I was on the Red Line today when I noticed a horrible smell. It smelled like a soiled diaper! I noticed a plastic bag on a seat that apparently held the offending vile contents. No one sat within ten feet of it. Come on people... How rude and ignorant it is to change your kids diaper on the train to begin with , but to leave the bag of crap on the train? Who would want to even touch that bag to throw it away?

I always thought the rule was that the left side of an escalator is for walkers and the right side is for those who are standing.

Nope escalators aren't meant to be walked on.

Where I'm from, the rule is if you want to walk, you can take the stairs.

Seriously people, I'm too impatient to just stand there while the escalator slowly inches along. In DC, the left side was always for walkers, so that's what I'm used to.

People generally follow the "stand on the right walk on the left" pattern here too, though there are some escalators that are too narrow to allow "two lanes of traffic" so to speak. People on those are just gonna have to be patientn when there's a "stander" in front of them.
