Yes, lots of truth here, as I've had the same experience in Chicago. The subway is there to be used, so why not do just that?

I don't live near the blue line for it to be convenient to me on a regular basis, but I live close enough that it's worth a short uber ride to it so I can get to O'Hare cheaply and quickly.

Agreed. I've definitely taken an Uber from Lakeview over to a Blue Line station in order to get to O'Hare faster. No point in taking the Uber all the way due to traffic.

It is what it is. I wouldn't assign it an emotional value. After doing it twice a day everyday M-F for 7 years, it just becomes a motion.

I regularly take the blue line or Metra and don't find it depressing.

Parking fees - now that's depressing.
