Thanks for including my status as part of the qualification of yuppie. On the other hand my car is very old and dented and beginning to rust. I drive it not to make a statement and not because I can't afford a better one, but because I have a budget like everyone else and I'd rather spend my money on other things. I try to take the busses and trains as much as possible through supposedly some of the worst hoods on the south side (to get from east beverly to hyde park), though I think the danger is ridiculously exaggerated. I rehabbed about 50% of 100-year house myself, including the electrical system. Didn't go to an Ivy league school. My parents have never given me ANYTHING. I have a very good salary but not enough to really show off. I do however like to run, a good glass of wine, Peete's coffee, restaurants, international travel, the Lyric Opera (season tickets), foreign films, the French language, good olive oil, the Art Institute. I wear a sports jacket instead of a hockey shirt -- all pretty yuppyish by typical standards. My friends are all over the place. I like diversity.

i just think that if your someone who had everything paid by your parents and never had to do any physical labor;went to an ivy league school; spend money on a shiny convertible(example of showing of your money), and have absolutely no mechanical skills, never been in the 'hood' ...

THEN YOUR A YUPPIE

I haven't been able to rep Lookout for a month. He'd been on Drover's tail if the system were working.

The system works. You just need to rep more people before you can him again. It's in an attempt to stop blatant rep point abuse.

I suspect you need to learn when people are joking a little "tongue-in-cheek-ily"

The point is, since nobody is moving around anymore due to the crap economy, there are no questions to answer as to where to move and what not, so to keep board members busy on here, people lately have been looking for idiotic topics to talk about just so there is still conversation on this board.
