I will be working in a medical clinic a couple of times a month in Little Village, right there next to the Walgreens. I took the cta there today and it was fine. I felt like I was in a foreign country with all the Spanish spoken around me
Anyways, I like food. Do any of you have any recomendatons on some good Mexican restaurant/ take out places around the area? My husband loves Tacos and so do I. The real authentic kind without sour cream.

There are a ton of Mexican joints on 26th St. Most places will be hole in the wall style, but will have excellent tacos and other Mexican foods. I really like El Milagro. They are the same people who make the tortillas sold in the grocery store.

La Chapparita has by far the best tripas in the city, order them crispy or well done. The longaniza is great as well.
Taquerias Atotonilco for pastor. Also Taqueria Los Barrilitos.
Birrieria Patinos Ocotlan for goat.
Las Islas Marias or El Tecolote for seafood/paellas

milagro is convenient as its a lunch counter style, but it gets slammed during busy periods and honestly i feel like their quality has declined a little. i prefer the one in pilsen.

as you noticed, it will help if you know some basic spanish if youre going into the small mom and pop shops.

Personally, I'm a fan of Lalo's on W. 26th, just west of Pulaski. There are several Lalo's (I even see they opened one in Navy Pier!) But the one on 26th caters to a more Hispanic population (obviously) and the flavor is more spot on. Their salsa, in my opinion, is much spicier than you'd find at the location on Maxwell Street.
