I'm skeptical it will actually happen, and it seems like a waste of a lot of money. All that to cut maybe 30 minutes off a trip to downtown for someone visiting or leaving chicago occasionally? It would be nice if daily commuters could utilize it or if there was a train connection from the burbs to the new train.

if this project is executed as outlined, guarantee this service will be in high demand particularly for those here on business trips.

Yes, for those on business trips. Which isn't exactly a game changer because we already have the blue line, and at the most a single business person might be coming and leaving once a week. Most less. And they would have to be going directly to and from downtown. IF you live on the northside, it likely won't help you any.

In Europe and Asia they have discovered that you really don't need to go at 150 mph to get from downtown to the airport. Sometimes even 60 mph is fine, as long as you don't have to change trains.

You are thinking about this far too narrowly. If this works and similar systems can be constructed, we are talking about potentially replacing elevated and surface routes along segments of the Blue and Green lines altogether. How does that help? Well, the Kennedy and Eisenhower are a mess and adding capacity by widening to the outside is not easily accomplished due to dense development. But with the tracks on the inside removed, highway lanes can be added in their place.

There is no plans to replace the blue line. This will strictly be an express train and it does not have the room to allow it to share the tracks with a non-express train.

So unfortunately, this initial stage will not include the widening of the expressway. Hopefully though, this does replace many of the taxi's/cars that do drive between O'Hare and downtown.

Yea, never said there were definitive plans for it. Just speculating about viable opportunities if this project does succeed. The opportunities are endless. Much like this:
