It was reported in the Tribune that Bally's has proposed a site, other than the locations listed in this poll, for a casino within Chicago. This is at the Tribune Publishing Center, which is located on the corner of Chicago Ave. and Halsted St.

Final three finalists for Chicago casino:

The $1.62 billion proposal from Rush Street Gaming, led by Chicago billionaire and Rivers Casino Des Plaines operator Neil Bluhm. Plans call for a casino and resort to be built on vacant land between the South Loop and Chinatown along the Chicago River on land set to be redeveloped by Related Midwest into a new development known as The 78.

The $1.74 billion proposal from Bally’s to build the casino and resort on what is now the Chicago Tribune printing plant and newsroom near Chicago Avenue and Halsted Street.

The $1.74 billion proposal from Hard Rock to build the casino and resort as part of the proposed One Central development, across DuSable Lake Shore Drive from Soldier Field.

Honestly for the proposed Rivers Casino proposal in 'Rezkoville'(never mind that area is now called 'the 78', IF that proposal ever down the road gets beyond the proposal stage and starts construction), I have this weird feeling South Loop residents are eventually going to start really rallying opposition towards the Rivers proposal. Also the local alderman for that part of Chicago(Sophia King), does NOT sound very favorable to the Rivers proposal. Finally I remember several aldermen(not just Rosa), don't sound like they're very favorable to the Rivers proposal.

I have this weird feeling the Bally's proposal(on the old Chicago Tribune printing building site), may eventually become the front runner. Also Friends of the Parks(-ing Lot) will probably whine a lot(due to the proximity to the lakefront), if adding a casino into the One Chicago proposal just west of the Field Museum(sorry I forget which casino, is affaiated with that proposal) were to be approved.

In order:

2. The $1.74 billion proposal from Hard Rock to build the casino and resort as part of the proposed One Central development, across DuSable Lake Shore Drive from Soldier Field.

3. The $1.74 billion proposal from Bally’s to build the casino and resort on what is now the Chicago Tribune printing plant and newsroom near Chicago Avenue and Halsted Street.

You need to think of it in terms of need. I think the Michael Reese hospital site would have been the best. But of these remaing three, the 78 plan is best. With the South Loop circling the drain in terms of property values, and probable future trends set to whack it down another peg, it needs a boost. And I think this one best accomplishes that remedial task.

The Hard Rock one would help too, and might buffer against the loss of the Chicago Bears to the suburbs, and it would add some hipness to the area, albeit of the highly canned variety.

I don't know why they're even considering the 3rd one. That area does not need any additional development and is doing fine.

I guess we will soon see. It'll be very interesting to be sure!

Really?? What's still going at 8 PM?

I like the selection of the $1.74 billion proposal from Bally’s to build the casino and resort on what is now the Chicago Tribune printing plant and newsroom near Chicago Avenue and Halsted Street. They will need to address some serious congestion issues at Chicago/Halsted and hopefully tie the traffic flow / parking lot into some easy highway offramp somehow.

It's amazing how far the selection came from the Mayor's initial five sites (none of which made any sense) to this now in River West. I think it made the most sense near the United Center as an dual anchor for a larger development given easy highway, L access, concerts, games, etc....but am still glad with this choice.
