I'm going to be moving to Chicago from Las Vegas and may consider giving up my car. I'm wondering if the city or cabs allow dogs to travel with you to parks, the vet, etc?

I know that they aren't allowed on the train/buses. I doubt cabs would either unless they were in a carrier.

You can bring them in a cab if in a carrier. This is also a time when Zipcars can come in really handy.

I'd never even heard of zipcar. Cool idea, thanks.

It definitely cheaper than keeping a car you rarely use!

If they are small and in a carrier you can bring them on CTA buses and trains. I am not sure about Metra though.

I'm pretty sure you can take them as long as they are in a carrier (no one would probably even notice), but if you have a large dog...that's a problem

Service dogs are allowed on both; they cannot stop someone from boarding with a service dog.

Agreed. Service dogs are allowed anywhere, however, regular old dogs who just want to play aren't
