I only pay $27 a month for a 3 person apartment unit..

My monthly electric bills for my 1BR highrise apartment were always between $18 and $35. High end of that range was when I was running the HVAC blowers constantly, as I did during very hot summer weather. (AC was included in my rent, but I paid to run the blowers.)

Disclaimer: I left town four years ago. Do not know what electricity rates have done since then.

The way things are going the Dallas MSA could be the same size as Chicago's MSA in as little as ten years. I didn't think it would happen so soon.

So what if it is? It'll still be Dallas.

I guess it's possible but very unlikely, there would probably have to be a catastrophe of cataclysmic proportions. The Chicago MSA has 9.5 Million people while Dallas MSA has 7.5 Million people.

Chicago has utility costs below the national average, so it shouldn't be that surprising. We paid $75 including all taxes for electric this month on a house 3000+ SQ FT home that has 5 people living in it.

Chicago has dropped below 9.5 million. The MSA has less people than it did in 2010. Meanwhile, Dallas has 7.6 million people. Dallas added over 1 million people in the past 8 years. By the end of the decade the Dallas MSA will be at almost 8 million people. Assuming current trends continue, Dallas will have over 9 million people by 2030.

There doesn't have to be a "catastrophe of cataclysmic proportions." The only thing that needs to happen is for current trends to continue for 10-12 more years. The math is pretty simple.

Ha ha ha jokes on me. Ok, WHY ARE THE HOOD AREAS OF THE SOUTHSIDE AND WESTSIDE LOSING AFRICAN-AMERICANS?

Tell us .... is really taxes? Or Cost of homes and Apartments? Maybe something else of the neighborhoods the City can't fully control?
