I grew up in Chicago (Logan Square) and spent a total of 30 years in the city. My final residence was on Roscoe near Cicero.
I also spent 5 years driving a cab in Chicago. Although it was long ago I still have a very good memory of all the streets.
Often I check up up on Chicago threads and have come to wonder, how many posters have grown up in the city?
Also, do most posters live in trendy areas: such as near the Lake, Wicker Park, Gold Coast, etc? Does anyone live, for example near Foster and Elston? Or Armitage and Central?

Me. Though I don't post on the vast majority of threads because they're usually about the north side.

I grew up on the far far southeast side - Hegewisch to be exact.

I moved out to the south suburbs in 91/92 and then out to Indiana in the early 00's.

I did. Born in Edgewater at the hospital that Hillary Clinton and John Wayne Gacy were too! That is quite company.:-0

The list of people that were born in Chicago (that post on this site),grew up in the city, and currently live in the city for that matter is going to be quite small.

Add me to the born at the late great Edgewater Hospital list. And grew up in Lincoln Square and North Center. Years later, friends of friends who were transplanted there from Michigan or wherever were astonished and heard to say, "We can't imagine anyone growing up here."

Born in Douglas neighborhood (I think) in Michael Reese Hospital. Sad it's closing down.

Someone tell me about this fabled hospital, because my boss' husband swears he was born in it, and brings it up every time they give me a ride home from anywhere.

It's on the corner of Hollywood and Ashland in the NW corner of Andersonville, 1/2 block west of Clark. It hasn't been open for years now...
