deeman7, imagine being a Police Officer who wants other people in different professions to keep their jobs/provide for their families the same as YOU want for your family... And then you are told by your superiors that you have to give citations to those people because they are "breaking the law."

That is being stuck in between a rock and a hard place, if I ever heard!

Sooooo I'm at this place in Lake County. They do NOT want to follow the ban. They offer a tent, by the way, as well as outdoor patio tables with heaters. When I walked up, a couple had a table outside the restaurant, in accordance with "the rules set forth by your Governor." But it is freezing outside, even with a heater. So they came in. There are about 8 or 10 tables full here.

In a way, it reminds me of how things must have been during Prohibition. Oh sure, there was a "rule against drinking" then, but the majority of people wanted to live their life, and contribute to the income of people in the Serving business.

I definitely don't blame these restaurants for breaking these ridiculous orders.. The government shouldn't have that much control on your livelihood..

I've been to a couple restaurants that still have seating inside... I definitely won't tell on them lol... I've also been to some that have really warm tents..It's not like being outside at all.

When do you think they will officially allow indoor dining again? January? They can keep up this charade all winter...

We were supposed to return to "normal" when a vaccine was available and contact tracing was in place. Well, we have two vaccines available with a third about to come online and they've had 10 months to set up a contact tracing regime. And yet here we are with no end in sight to this stupidity.

JB Hogg needs to go.

I hope things get back to normal this year. but who knows. I cant wait till we can go out and not worry about things being open or not. It sounds worse in NY or CA where you cant have anything open. I'm just glad 2020 is leaving us in a few hours.

ChicagoMeO, good morning.

If ONLY changing the calendar to 2021 would leave all this behind us! But it is not looking like it.

Nonetheless, keep your good attitude and go into this new year time with happiness and health.

Chicago shut down the Dugout in Wrigleyville indefinitely after a NYE party.

https://abc7chicago.com/business/cit...tions/9266592/

"At least 370 businesses have been cited by the city for violating coronavirus restrictions since the pandemic began in March. The latest batch of cases comes about three months after the city's ban on indoor dining and service in October."

Open everything up and let these small businesses survive!

That's all I've been hearing these days, the Porkchop may as well not even bother running again.
Business aid packages simply weren't enough to stay afloat for a year.

I'm trying to help people running small businesses keep their restaurants open, and pay their staff who need to take care of their families!

They don't always have the option to keep a position where they can still get their hair done after telling others they can NOT, or promote protests while having their home protected, or close restaurants while they obviously have not slowed down on eating.

Please forgive me readers. The thought of hypocrisy just really gets to me.

Let me turn this around: Enjoy your day. Enjoy your time with families and loved ones. Stay happy and healthy.

thanks! i can only hope it gets better, though with Biden becoming president, who knows how that will be. He definitely will change things.

I cant believe the States are screwing up the vaccine rollout. They are in charge now, and were not prepared. they didn't even beleive a vaccine would be invented this year. no one made plans to handle the rollout. Duh and Doh!
