The way the girls are laughing and dancing/grinding/twerking on the car is just sickening!

Like they think it's all just a game.

The ACLU comment at the end is just ridiculous. How about, these individuals act better???

In August of 1967 we headed to Highland Park so I wouldn't get my butt kicked at that scummy Bowen High School. It was life altering in a great way. I never had to see the Manor at it's worst. I think we got out just in time. As mentioned it really hit the fan in 68. I know Roseland was not unlike that as well. It's really sad it ever happened that way, but at least I have the memories as they are precious. To me it's like Hiroshima must have seemed to those after the bomb. Not a great place to hang out.
Just looked that up - just east of Roseland, not far. My dad went to Mendel Catholic, which is something else now, maybe St. Rita?

I recently went to a funeral in Roseland, and we took a drive over to Pullman Square, where my relative lived, and while the area wasn't great, in the middle of the day there wasn't much going on, just quiet. The Catholic church over there was still beautiful, but definitely has seen better days.

I think it's now Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep. St. Rita has been in the old Quigley campus at 78th and Western.

personone, EXACTLY!

You see members of the police team standing there, and there is absolutely no fear/regard/concern of a LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENT!

So, you think someone like that cares about a teacher telling them how to behave in school OR a neighbor elder telling them how to behave in the community?!?

Sad to say, but it kind of makes me think of the story of Sodom and Gomorrah.

I really wish people could get it together, do some major self-reflection, and make a change.

All I know is, if anyone tried to pull me out of my car or one of my kids out of the car, there would be a side of MASTER JAY that I would hate to bring out, but it would be necessary to MAKE A CHANGE, at any cost, even to my own self.

Stay safe! Stay happy!! Stay healthy!!!

This is sad! In the 37 some odd years, we lived in Evanston, I never saw that kind of violence in the loop.

Yes, unfortunately, it's those types of sentiments that have gotten us to where we are now.

Agreed. "Oh no, don't say bad things or be hard on people in marginalized communities!"

Okay, then you have THIS.

Instead, invest in their future.
