Vallas is still a Democrat and I'm sure he would prove so if elected. At least it "sounds" like he wants to get tougher on crime.

Congratulations are still in order for Chicago in getting rid of the parasite. At least the people of this city recognize that Lightfoot was the single worst person for leading this city.
Vallas seems to be the lesser of two evils

You think Defund the Police Johnson will be better than Lightfoot? His massive tax increases will destroy jobs. He is much, much worse than Lightfoot.

Whatever your thoughts are about Lori Lightfoot's competency, its pretty ridiculous to say her "goal" is to "destroy the city"
Its that kind of hyperbole that makes this forum a waste of time and effort.

But Chicago's Hispanic population is slightly larger than it's Black population, so it may come down to voter turnout.

Vallas, to many, is a republican posing as a democrat. And there are Bernie type progressives that will rally against him for this reason.

That said, the Latino vote is not going to all go to Johnson. Latinos are often socially conservative, and I can see them splitting.

It's going to be an interesting runoff. Vallas should just continue pounding the Pro Police, tough on crime message if he wants to win. Not sure he'll actually do much, but it's an effective strategy.

That would be more true in a national election, but that is not how things have historically been in Chicago, where despite a large black and hispanic population, white men (The Daleys and Rahm) won the office of mayor regularly.

It would be nice to at least have a mayor that works well and gets along with the CPD. Nothing will be accomplished if the mayor and the police are constantly at loggerheads.

In only 1 term of office, you'll be set for life financially with all that money rolling in under the table from the various labor unions looking for special favors.

This is the well-oiled machine owned and operated by the Democrats that run Chicago. It's been that way since the days of Capone.
