Hi everyone,

I am a marketing student who will be graduating in the near future and am considering a move to Chicago. I currently live in Denver. Is there anyone who has either lived in or visited both places who can give me a run down on the positives/negatives of the two places? How is the nightlife? Traffic? Job market for marketing/advertising positions? I realize that the cost of living is high but I've also heard that jobs pay well. Also, I am gay and fairly liberal. Is Chicago a liberal and accepting city?

Thnanks in advance for the advice!

I live in Chicago, and spent significant time in the Denver area. I really liked Denver, but in terms of Nightlife and Traffic, I think Chicago has much more of both.

I can't help you as far as knowing about marketing/advertising positions, but you can try looking at careerbuilder.com or monster.com and seeing what is available in Chicago to apply for.

Cost of living in Chicago is pretty close to Denver from what I've seen. Rents and homes will cost more than in a small town, but are still cheaper than the two coasts.

Chicago is definitely a liberal and accepting city. The Lincoln Park/Lakeview area has many gay bars and planned events. Pick up a Chicago Reader when you are in town which can be found at most 7-Elevens, etc. near the newspapers (it's free!) and check out all the ads for things to do.

Good luck.
