The elected officials are refusing the cries of the people that elected them. See Emil Jones.

But I am afraid we will have Emil Jone's "cousins" elected as representatives and we'll be no better off, and in worse financial shape.

That is precisely one of the reasons why a con-con must be held to stop elected officials to handing their office to family members.

One source of information for me the Independent Voters of Illinois - Independent Precinct Organization and they are advocating "No". I've attached the press release where they make their case - its at the end, you have to scroll all the way down.

People need to understand what this is really about ...most do not. Voting for a Constitutional Convention will cause a tax increase because the state does not have the money to fund it. So VERY Illlinois. If there are changes needed to the constitution, you amend it, no need to waste time and taxpayer dollars on this farce.
But the current elected officials won't amend it. And do you trust them to do a good job?

I totally hear you, but we elected them, and that's who we are supposed to be able to trust. How are we going to be able to trust a new batch of constitutional delegates? Who will run? How does that process work, and is it at all removed from Illinois politics? If not, I don't see how we expect any reform to come out of it.

Alas, details are scarce via mainstream media. I believe delegates are put before the voters via ballot and we vote on who to choose.
