Please do not forget to vote Yes or No for a Constitutional Convention to be held in 2010 on this Novembers election ballot.

Just so you know the choice of each member is not public in this poll.

Definitely vote FOR a Constitutional Convention. I urge everyone to carefully vote for the delegates if the yes vote passes. Choosing the delegates is the most crucial part to getting real reform!

At first I thought it sounded kinda fun, but the costs and the current political atmosphere lead me to believe this is not a good time to take it on.

I will vote yes. The main reason for me is to include a provision to recall elected officials that are not serving in the best interests of the populace like Blago. Since our leaders (Emil Jones and others) in the legislature have refused to allow the legislature the opportunity to even vote on giving the people this right; we must take the right ourselves.

There are other issues that are important also that need to be addressed. A con-con is one of the few chances that the people actually get a more direct say in their state government.

I voted yes. I think it is necessary to update the constitution to changing times else you get confused interpretations of an archaic document *looks at the US Constitution*

I also voted yes on the provision to recall elected officials. Leaders must be held accountable for their actions. They are not royalty.

I think we might be able to have a couple of great delegates from this forum if the referendum passes and they choose to run.

I would like to see a provision that mandates recall for city governments as well. The ability to recall Aldermen would be wonderful. I have a certain North Side Alderman in mind already who might not get an easy win without the entire Democratic machine backing her up on a full blown election day...

A recall for county officials would be wonderful as well.
I also would not mind term limitations on city and county officials.

What do you you think about the teachers' unions being so vehemently against this due to opening up the risk of raising pension funds?

Blago is already messing with the teachers' pension funds (TRS), diveting the money to cover other state shortfalls. The teachers have every right to be upset, it's their money. How would you like people messing with your retirement fund?

People need to understand what this is really about ...most do not. Voting for a Constitutional Convention will cause a tax increase because the state does not have the money to fund it. So VERY Illlinois. If there are changes needed to the constitution, you amend it, no need to waste time and taxpayer dollars on this farce.
