I've never liked Walgreens, nor its pricing. But I will say that Walgreens is run very well. People here would be surprised at some of the pricing at pharmacies and would incorrectly assume some places like say Walmart would have the cheapest. They'd be incorrect. Walgreens of course would be one of the highest.

Target and Walmart will be cheaper, but less frequent or convenient. I would go with the most convenient for the value.

As I said Walgreens manages its business very well.

Walgreens. I hate CVS. I refuse to get their CVS card.

Many Walgreens used to have alcohol; for some reason they stopped selling it... but I have not turned my back on them, because they do not anymore...

Many CVS have alcohol (which is cool in a pinch), but it has rather unremarkable sales on alcohol.

I buy my alcohol at Jewel most of the time. Something I drink is always on sale there...

I stick with Walgreens mainly because they do not make you get a stupid card for sales (and their sales are actually sales) and Walgreens is all most of us had growing up in the Chicago area (except for the old "drug stores" which I miss and Osco.)

I prefer CVS, not only b/c in MA, CVS outnumbers Walgreens, but also b/c CVS has better sales. the Extra Care card is VERY convenient (no more ripping out coupons or trying to find flyers w/ the good coupons still in there!) and you get a little bit of extra cash every few months (the most I got was $3.50, which isn't bad at all. usually I get about $.50-$1). CVS generic items, IMO, are better than Walgreens generic items. and it doesn't hurt that CVS sells booze

however, I'll go to the first place I come across. I'm in the Loop a lot and used to go to the Walgreens near State and Jackson a lot, but now that there's a new CVS near the library, I shop there more often. that CVS is going to make some good money, considering all the dorms nearby (surprised it isn't 24/7. now that I think about it, not many CVS stores are 24/7)

Walgreens. Maybe it's a nostalgia thing. I remember going to their lunch counters when I was a kid waiting for the bus, and getting a slice of pumpkin pie or a hot chocolate. Sometimes mom would take us there for their salsbury steak and mashed potatoes. This was at the Walgreens there where Lawrence, Western, and Lincoln all meet up. I also remember shopping at Walgreens every Christmas Eve before Midnight Mass to pick up last minute presents for my family. Old habits die hard I guess.

I go to Walgreens most often, followed by Osco. CVS is too far from where I live.

I switched to CVS. Their extra value card generates a lot of money off coupons. I went there for a perscription yesterday and got a five dollar off coupon I could apply for other purchases. I also recieved another five dollar off coupon via email today.
