Wish I could pull off the wife beater undershirt and cut off jean shorts

Interesting, you're admitting that's directly correlated to being in the midwest, which is probably spot on accurate.

There isn't pressure to dress well if you're a guy, the same way there would be in LA or NY.
MOST guys in NY and LA look like crap too. But those cities have a larger class of people who fit the "beautiful people" label. Chicago has these people too--and in larger numbers than most U.S. cities--but they aren't as ubiquitous as in NY and LA. I'd put SF ahead of us fashion wise as well. Maybe Miami. But not many others.

Miami definitely, Vegas as well, although it's full of tourists. There's more style there. From what I've seen, Boston might have more as well. Possibly Seattle.

And no one may agree from Chicago, but Minneapolis is recognized as fashionable, I would place it ahead of Chicago.

Geez. I've been to those bars. I left pretty quickly.

I tend to hang out in places where we guys are a little scruffier. Not the intentional, calculated scruffiness of the Wicker Park set.

A different sort of scruffiness. Sincere scruff.

I know, I know. TOO SEXY, right? However, I've noticed that a lot of really beautiful women tend to have a huge soft spot for the slightly rumpled man. Not every woman. (But the ones I like. )

But that's kind of something I like about Chicago - it's low-key. I prefer the laid-back look over the decked-out look, personally. I think it goes along with Chicago attitude laid-back and smart.
