The Trib had an article on Old Chicago this week. More importantly, it referred to an amusement park enthusiast's website that has lots of pictures, postcards, and other memorabilia: Negative-G Old Chicago: Index (http://negative-g.com/Old-Chicago/Old-Chicago-Index.htm - broken link)

I had some good times there as a pup.

Went there a couple of times, it was loud - noisy and filled with kids.

My sister, husband and three kids took a ride on the tilt-a-whirl that turned into the twirl from hell. Seems the attendant walked away or was distracted, he left the ride running. By the time he returned and shut it down each person (my sisters family included) were crawling off the ride and proceeded to puke their brains out. When my BIL finally composed himself he went looking for the guy. Some of the other riders in between puking told him that the guy took off running after seeing the aftermath.

Dinner at White Fence Farm and then some time on the rides at Old Chicago - a Saturday straight from my youth!

I remember a plethora of little trinket stores. Not unlike Navy Pier today. It seemed more like carnival rides and my dad preditcted it wouldnt "make it" for long. We only went twice and we were all bored with it after that.
Shame though, it was a huge place. What a waste.

I remember my Dad taking me there. I think there was a roller coaster (The Chicago Loop) we rode. I too remember my dad saying the place wouldn't stay in business long, although he did enjoy going there. Looking at those pics, I now remember riding those water log rides. I remember that hill. Wow. Blast from the past, that's for sure.

I don't recall the specific rides, unfortunately. After it closed down, I remember being able to see the dome from my friend's house in Lemont on clear days.
