Wow, The Shoreham's 1 bedrooms are almost $2k/mo. and it does not appear to include a parking spot!

I wouldnt recommend letting the 2 year old wander the streets by themselves, but yes the area is generally safe. If you go south a bit it will get a bit sketchy. There is a stop at Roosevelt and state which has 4 or so lines, I know 2 of them are the red and orange. If you want to take a train to UIC you will have to transfer somewhere

Yes, its safe for a 2 year old.

Does it have train service? Yes, although it could be better. But, get your wife used to the idea of taking the bus. I know its not as romantic as a train seems to be, but it provides a quick and easy commute to UIC from an area with many buildings with the ammenities and price range you seem to be looking for.

OK here's a new idea... What kind of area is Oak Park....? Is it a nice suburb....the rents are reasonable for older constructed smaller unit condos...

Funny Long... Letting her out by herself will surely lead to a self reliant strong person... Come on.... I'd give up my life for my little one.....
