I posted this on another board, I'm not the originator, but I thought it was quite funny and it does illustrate some of the issue with mainstream thinking.

Someone said: "I've found Jesus!"
Another replied: "Hallelujah! I didn't know He was lost..."

He seeks and saves the lost - no one finds Him first.

Are you sure he's not lost, after all no one has seen him in something like 2,000 years

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Choose wisely my friends.

Finn how did you find this narrow gate ? , explain it to all those who err from it, and end up on the broad way .

Do you really believe that you are one of the few that finds the narrow gate ?

Care to explain why ?

Jesus's words are not about me alone, but all people, you included Seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

That verse you quoted is completely messed up. That is a horrible translation. The worse I have seen yet for that verse. What translation is that?

When everything else fails, attack the translation. LOL.

Here is YLT. Unfortunatlely it does not say anything different. The red is what I qulted before.

for every one who is asking doth receive, and he who is seeking doth find, and to him who is knocking it shall be opened.

(For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.)

Go ye in through the strait gate, because wide is the gate, and broad the way that is leading to the destruction, and many are those going in through it;

(Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.)

Yes, I am attacking the translation: See you posted this:

"...14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."

Here is the YLT:

Mat 7:14 how strait is the gate, and compressed the way that is leading to the life, and few are those finding it!

Yours makes it sound as if only a few will ever find it. When the YLT shows that it is PRESENT tense - there were were only a few finding it at the time.
