And.... How does eternal life, as defined by Jesus, have anything to do with salvation?

Well, because it's knowing Christ and what He has done for us. Right?

The Word of God declares that there are works to be done while under grace, but not those of Moses' Law. The perverted "grace without obedience" doctrine tries to cloud this issue to uphold their false doctrine. Truth is, Jesus paid the price with His own blood that you might be saved. Jesus provided the way, but you must walk it. If you don't, you'll be weighed in the balances on the last day and come up short.

Those are your thoughts, not God's. The scriptures make it clear that putting the flesh to death is a requirement, lest ye die.

I am not talking about service, its salvation by Grace that you lack a understanding of. No sense of putting the cart before the horse.

The elect are saved unto good works, not because of good works Eph 2:

8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9Not of works, lest any man should boast.

10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

If you deny scripture, which declares that the deeds of the flesh must be mortified, then you are under a cloud of deception. You cannot eat of every tree of the garden and expect to live.

I think the disagreement here is more due to a lack of the meaning of words.....

For instance saved is NOT eternal life, yet you cannot have eternal life without being saved!! For Salvation to take place you need to be saved from something. In this case "SIN" is the culprit that one needs saving from. You cannot be saved from sin, if you continue to live in sin. Eternal life is not being saved from sin, but rather the result of one being saved!! Man cannot save himself, only God can. Once you have been saved by God, you will receive his Holy Spirit.....

JOHN 14:6
...I AM the way, THE TRUTH, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

JOHN 16:13
Howbeit, when he, THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH, is come, he will guide you into ALL TRUTH: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

The Holy Spirit will guide us to walk in the light of Jesus Christ!!!

PSALM 119:142,151
Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and THY LAW IS TRUTH. Thou art near, O Lord; and ALL THY COMMANDMENTS ARE TRUTH.

GOD BLESS!!!
DALE

No, salvation does not save you from sin. It saves you from the CONDEMNATION you deserve for your sin.
