Since there are SO many Christian denominations today and they all seem to just shrug their shoulders at the many differences between denominations and their beliefs, I am just curious as to what are considered the essential doctrines of modern day protestant Christianity?

Can somebody please list them? Can we come to a concensus as to what they are?

The only truly relevant ones are to follow Christ and His commands to "love God and each other" . . . all else is vanity and human hubris.

Then your understood essentials are faith in Christ and works to love and help your fellow man. True?

Love the Lord your God with all you heart, soul, and mind.....

Then love your neighbor as yourself.....

Believe in Jesus.....

Trust the word of God( the Bible ).......

Receive the Holy Spirit and bear the gifts of the Spirt.......

There are alot of essentials but they actually compliment one another and clarify each.

We shrug, because the differences are just minor or secondary points-at least for 95% of said denominations. Some of the main differences have to do with style of worship, style of church government, the color of the carpet or the mode of baptism.

Lok up the Apostles or Nicene creed to get a view of the basics. Anyone who trusts in Jesus for their eternal destiny and has a relationship with God is a brother or sister.

FYI I am involved with a Lutheran and Assembly of God Chruch. They both think well of the other denomination.

There is only one "essential".

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Everything else in just details.

ex-protestant here, Moderator cut: delete
Protestant Christianity is a vague word that covers a lot of different believes, mainly however they believe something extraordinary about Jesus of Nazareth.
