After re-reading your OP, I see I may have understood your question. If you're talking about becoming a Christian, I'll stick with my original response. If you meant once you are a Christian, then I would agree with Mystic.
Since there are SO many Christian denominations today and they all seem to just shrug their shoulders at the many differences between denominations and their beliefs, I am just curious as to what are considered the essential doctrines of modern day protestant Christianity?
Can somebody please list them? Can we come to a concensus as to what they are?
What it takes to be saved ;the belief in father the creator and his son jesus as you savior;then obeying the ten commandments. If you can follow the ten commanments being a sinner then your doing well. Then look to what you do as good works that will not save you but is what you do as a christian,

No Christian follows all of the 10 commandments. Most Christians don't believe the law is even relevant anymore, and they ignore the overwhelming majority of the 613 Torah laws.

Shouldn't the question just be "What are the biblical essentials to Christianity?" instead of what are they for Modern day Protestant Christianity?
belief
obedience
repentance
baptism
perseverance
All five of these are explicitly tied to salvation biblically

That's because 1) those were for the Jews and 2) Jesus fulfilled the requirements of the Law. Matthew 5:17
No one has ever been redeemed by following the Law, 10 Commandments or otherwise. The Law was given to reveal sin. We are redeemed by faith in Jesus' redemptive work on the cross.

No. That would be Bibleanity . . . NOT Christianity.

And your brand of Christianity would be called I don't like the thought of God's judgement so I blame that part of the Bible on ancient ignorantsanity (even though Jesus spoke of God's impending wrath on non-believers).
