Is it just me, or did she not mean that Christ died with certain knowledge that His death meant life for the whole world? God didn't plan Christ's crucifixion and resurrection merely HOPING a few MIGHT, of their own free will, make a decision to accept His gift. Or am I reading the girl's statement the wrong way?

Sometimes we have a hard time separating flesh and blood thoughts and wisdom from the love and wisdom of God which is far and above our own human comprehension..His thoughts and ways are not ours..

That's also what I inferred from her statement, ScarletWren. The scriptures state that God gave his son for the redemption of the whole world.
